Seven die as scores sustain injuries in Thika highway grizzly Accident

St. John Ambulance personnel who were the first to arrive at the scene of accident confirmed the seven dead and scores of others injured during the accident which was caused by a lorry carrying construction blocks. Sources said that the lorry crashed into several vehicles including two matatus.

Seven people were feared dead in a multiple accidents along Thika Super Highway this afternoon. The fatal accident which left scores of other people injured happened near East African Breweries Limited (EABL) offices.

St. John Ambulance personnel who were the first to arrive at the scene of accident confirmed the seven dead and scores of others injured during the accident which was caused by a lorry carrying construction blocks. Sources said that the lorry crashed into several vehicles including two matatus.

The accident caused a heavy traffic snarl-up on the busy highway as police moved in to clear the wreckage. A huge crowd also gathered at the accident scene to assist in the rescue operations. Several ambulances were also dispatched to the scene to assist in ferrying the injured to hospital.
