The National Super Alliance deputy presidential candidate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is accusing the Jubilee agents of buying identity cards from NASA strongholds to manipulate the outcome of the August 8, polls. He has at the same time given IEBC up to next Monday, to publish voters register failure of which NASA team will be forced to take both legal and civil action.
He said in a statement that his teams’ attention has been drawn to what he termed extremely worrying incidents where Jubilee agents have been buying identity cards from the NASA stronghold of Lower Eastern region with the intention of rigging the polls.
“These agents have been going around asking to be furnished with details of ID’s of the residents and particularly the senior citizens while promising them financial assistance from the government but with the intention of disenfranchising them from their right to make vote for the candidates of their choice”, he stated.
He claims that the District officers, Local chiefs and their assistants are the ones that are roping into the nefarious scheme and it has been happening with full knowledge and connivance with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Early this week, Kibwezi West Wiper parliamentary aspirant James Mbaluka was called by one of his assistants and told that, “people are voting.” and immediately rushed there only to find the Ministry of Social Service registering the elderly citizens in the promise that they would be paid some money in six months’ time.
The deputy presidential candidate described how the scheme was working: “The senior citizens are promised that there are some money to be paid to them but they have to register first. They fill out their details and then proceed to another room where their biometrics are being taken including a finger print as well as a photocopy of their IDs’ and photos of their facial features.” He further said that the biometric gadgets are similar to those used by the IEBC and connected to laptops and register all the information taken.
Mr Mbaluka became suspicious that the whole thing was a rigging scheme, and then organized the Constituents to go and request for more information and discovered what was going on and that was when he saw all the gadgets that were being used by the IEBC to register voters. He protested loudly after which he was arrested and arraigned in court on charges of incitement to violence and was acquitted of the charges and started receiving threatening calls.
“It has since come to our knowledge that, after the details of these citizens were taken with the said gadgets, the names of the voters were transferred from their voting stations to other far flung areas. For example, Josephine Ndila Kalondu ID. No. 28029411 has been registered at Makindu Ward Kibwezi West, Makueni County. After her details were taken by these agents, she has since been transferred to Mucatha Ward, Kiambu.” With these evil scheme, it is quite clear that the older generation will find it difficult to move to far-flung areas where they have been transferred to go and vote,” he noted.
Mr Musyoka who addressed a Press conference at NASA’s Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi said that that is how Jubilee is planning to use extra ballot papers to cast votes in favor of Jubilee. He said the scheme involves the IEBC, the NIS and the Provincial Administration that is meant to deny Kenyans of their right to vote while rigging in an unpopular Jubilee regime.
He said NASA team is calling for vigilance in all the NASA strongholds and urged their supporters to be ready to execute citizen arrests against the people who are hell bent to subvert the popular will of Kenyans
“NASA is therefore calling upon the IEBC to immediately publish the voter’s register that should have already been published earlier by June 28th. If IEBC fails to publish the voters register by next Monday, the team will be forced to take both legal and civil action against the IEBC to ensure the constitutional right of every Kenyan to vote in a free and fair election, is maintained”, said the former VP.
