Police in Kitaraka in lower Mwea, Embu County have launched a manhunt for a man (42) who is suspected to have killed his wife and their only son last Saturday. The man identified as Mr Francis Musyoki is said to have murdered his wife and son after despute between him and the wife before burying them in a shallow grave within the home compound.
According to area Chief Stephen Nzioka the couple disagreed over family matters before the man decided to murder the wife and child.
The villagers became anxious after the lady and his son went missing for three days while the man could not confirm, only saying that his wife had gone to her mother’s home in Machakos County. They started to search for the two and even reported the matter to the chief who mobilized the villagers to do thorough search. The suspect fled immediately the search neared to the shallow grave where he had buried the two.
The villagers were disappointed when they discovered the two had been butchered and buried on the banks of a nearby river near the home. The villagers informed the Chief immediately who visited the scene. On discovery the chief notified the Police who visited the grave where the bodies of the two had been buried.
They have launched a 24 hours search of the suspect as they seek a court order to exhume the bodies for postmortem before they are reburied again.
The Chief said residents became suspicious after the lady when missing while she normally participated in community activities.
