Kibra CDF rating a boon for Ken Okoth's re-election

In addition to the fact that Mr Okoth was born and bred in Kibra, many voters will feel that they would better off with a leader whose development credentials are already proven than rallying behind a newcomer either on the basis of her name recognition or the fact that one had worked for Mr Odinga.

Kibra Constituency has been named as the second best performing constituency in the use of the constituency development fund (CFD), according to a new report on the use of the funds by the body that disburses and manages them, the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Board.

The board rated all the 290 constituencies in terms of the finance and stewardship, service delivery, operational indicators, dynamic/qualitative leadership, corruption/governance and national values and cohesion, and Kibra MP Ken Okoth will be pleased to have emerged tops.

The MP is currently facing a fierce political battle in the constituency which was formerly held by CORD leader Raila Odinga, with Raila's daughter Rosemary and his former aide Eliud Owalo seeking to oust Mr Okoth, a soft spoken politician who has curved a niche for himself as astute in resource management.

In addition to the fact that Mr Okoth was born and bred in Kibra, though educated in the United States, many voters will feel that they would better off with a leader whose development credentials are already proven than rallying behind a newcomer either on the basis of her name recognition or the fact that one had worked for Mr Odinga.
