Emulunya Chelsea inches closer to Sir Charles Opong title in Kakamega

Emulunya Chelsea have intensified their campaign towards chasing the Sir Charles Opong Buchere tournament title after winning their second match 2-1 convincingly against former champions Simba FC. The Lukale brothers Philip and David maintained their scoring tempo by giving their team goals in the 27th and 73rd minute respectively.

Simba got their consolation goal in the 81st minute through Donald Nandwa. Another Lukale brother by the name Tony was red carded by centre referee Joseph Ambuka during the match after two bookable offences in a feisty encounter with an overall of 8 yellow cards flashed.

In another match played at Emulunya Primary School grounds, former champions Bafana beat Olympia 2-1. Scorers for Bafana were Ambetsa Victor in the 32nd minute and Ibrahim Juma in the 86th, while Frankline Omukala scored for Olympia in the 60th minute.

The tournament is sponsored by the family of the late Charles Derrick Buchere, who was a skilled footballer, to commemorate his life. The winning team will get a trophy and cash prize of Sh10,000, number two gets a trophy and cash prize of Sh7,000 while number three gets a trophy and cash prize of Sh5,000. The fourth team will pocket Sh3,000.

All participating teams will get a ball. The top scorer will get Sh1,500 while best goalkeeper gets to pocket Sh1,000.
