The ODM field continues to get crowded as more aspirants declare their interest in the North Mugirango parliamentary seat. Mr Kepher Keengwe, a lecturer at JKUAT, is the newest entrant into the race which so far has attracted over ten aspirants, most of them on ODM. The current MP Charles Geni is also an ODM member.
Other politicians salivating for the seat include former MPs Wilfred Ombui and Joseph Kiangoi, Nyamira County Assembly speaker Joash Nyamoko, Kisii County Secretary Johnstone Ndege, George Onsongo, Shem Tai, Jason Mosinga, Nyaega Ouru, and Henry Nyankabaria who is currently based in the United States. Mr Kiangoi, a former Kanu MP who was eventually nomited by ODM as a representative at the East Africa Legislative Assembly, has recently defected to Jubilee.
Mr Geni, being the incumbent, is the candidate to beat on the ODM side. From Jubilee, Mr Nyamoko is the clear frontrunner. He was recently appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to the team to campaign for Jubilee in Nyamira County.
