Police in Maguna, Naivasha, on Wednesday saved a man from a mob baying for his blood.

The lucky man was arrested and locked up at Naivasha Police Station after a brief period of beatings from members of the public incensed by his attack on a jilted lover.

Eyewitnesses said that the man, who works in a local quarry, went to his favourite bar and found the woman, who is a waitress at the bar, speaking to another customer whom he suspected to be involved in a romantic relationship with the woman.

“This angered him, he left the bar briefly and returned with a plastic can whose contents he splashed on the woman’s face,” an eyewitness said.

Members of the public rushed to the rescue of the screaming woman. Some fetched watched water to sprinkle and wash her face with but others immediately descended on the man with kicks and beatings.

After first aid, the woman was hospitalized, partially blind. But the man also nearly lost his life, but, luckily for him, police rescued him.
