Police in Machakos nab 62 year old man peddling bhang

According to Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang, the suspect is a notorious drug peddler who had been released recently after being arrested a few months back in the same town.

Police in Matuu yesterday evening arrested a 62 year old man with 20 rolls of bhang at the Matuu Bus Park.

Mr Pius Wambua Mutiso was allegedly selling the drug when he was arrested. Concerned residents raised the alarm and informed the police who responded immediately on the scene. However, some of the suspect's accomplishes managed to escape arrest.

According to Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang, the suspect is a notorious drug peddler who had been released recently after being arrested a few months back in the same town.

The police boss has promised to continue hunting down suspected drug peddlers from the region, adding that the police are on the lookout for Mutiso's accomplishes who escaped.

Kipsang further urged Matuu residents to work closely with his office and cautioned them against shielding criminal suspects from arrest.

"I would like to assure residents that we are still hunting down the others who managed to get away, I will not rest until we eradicate drug trade in this region. I also appeal to the general public to be informing the relevant authorities of such characters without hiding them," he said.

The suspect will be presented to the Kithimani Law Court later today to face charges of being in possession of illegal substances.
