As an advocate for peace Jimal Abid Hassan is using his mediation roles in resolving border dispute which has remained a major factor in different parts of Wajir County to seek to get an elective seat.
Mr Hassan commonly known as JJ is eyeing for Batalu Ward seat in Wajir North constituency under the slogan of promising to work on a peace mission for the area and the whole county. Jimal is campaigning strongly with a very reach manifesto to address the many challenges facing the electorate. The campaign team is led by Mr Abdiwahid Somo who is serving as the team manager. Others in the team are Mr Abdullahi Ali Hirsi (campaign chief strategist) and campaign communication officer Mr Abdinoor Ragow.
He is using ODM ticket for election and has drawn a strong campaign itinerary to propagate for the support of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga. He blames President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee regime of making Kenyans suffer due to bad administration crippled with high rate of corruption.
In an interview with Kenya Free Press, Jimal expressed confidence of winning the seat, attributing it to his success story in negotiating for peace among the warring clans. He also banking on his experience after working with the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) office in Wajir North Constituency. He assures the electorate that he will deliver using the experience of manning the CDF projects covering the whole expansive constituency.
Jimal said while he was in the CDF office, he left a good legacy after working closely with the residents of Batalu Ward. He further said he played his cards well that will now be in hand to help him capture the seat as the next MCA.
Jimal's Manifesto has its key pillars being improving water supply in the ward as well as ensuring security is guaranteed to all the residents. Youth and women empowerment through job offers and tenders towards development projects is another agenda contained in the manifesto. Education is another priority when elected as the next MCA together with establishing a revolving fund for the residents to benefit without interests being accrued from what is borrowed.
As regards to his education back ground which he also using in his entrenched campaign strategy, Mr Jimal first joined Mwamba primary school before joining Sabunley Secondary School. He later enrolled for a diploma in supply management and he is currently pursuing a degree in Business Management.
He once worked at Hass Petroleum and Total Kenya Ltd companies relocating to the work at the Constituency Administration. He later joined Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) where he trained as an Aviation Security officer. He was thereafter deployed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where he worked for some years before he relocating to his constituency and later joined politics.
He has decided to join politics after his sub clan-the Tesoth and family unanimously endorsed his interest in politics. He is, therefore banking on the position being the sole candidate from his entire extended family.
Once elected Jimal is promising effectiveness in service delivery that will trickle down to all members of the society."I am accessible and ready as well as willing to represent the entire people of the Ward", he said adding leadership is all about simplicity saying he qualifies for such and being down to earth.
