An MCA aspirant for Wajir Township today launched a detailed manifesto rekindling his memories when he served as area Councillor for one term. Noor Ahmed Ali known as Sheikha Sharaftaleh, according to the manifesto wants to improve the Wajir town which is the heart of Wajir County.
Mr Noor Ahmed is a veteran politician in Wajir County having served as a councillor for the ward between 1997 to 2003 before devolution was put into action after 2013 General Elections. He says is confident of capturing back the seat.
In the manifesto, the MCA aspirant has outlined the agenda of improving the ward through street lights, improved roads,health care, water supply as well as sewerage disposals among other policies.
According to his profile, before he joined poitics, Mr Noor used to be Teacher in Al-Fatah Madarasa and later started an Orphans Madarasa in Eldas constituency. Other than politics Mr Noor is a great scholar in Islamic studies and also serves as a religious leader.
While serving as councillor he has outlined his achievements which include starting Furaha mixed secondary school and overseeing the established of Ali Maow and and Hodhan dispensaries.
The former civic leader also served as County Council chairman of Wajir during which time he was the brains behind the establishment of Bute and Tarbaj libraries. He also initiated the establishment of senior Ogle Girls Secondary School.
Mr Noor also served as chairman of ODM Party in Wajir County for a period of 4years.
Besides, the aforementioned achievements, Mr Noor is well known in Wajir County in terms of peace mitigation program and has a record of solving community disputes many times through consensus building.
Speaking to Kenya Free Press, Mr Noor revisited his manifesto noting that since the Township is a cosmopolitan Ward promised to work with everyone by boosting education, health, bursary, and creating employment for the youth.
"I am not denying the fact that I am aging, but can affirm that old age is wisdom. I want to assure the people of Wajir Township ward that I will deliver effectively to their satisfaction", he said adding that he served the ward before devolution was introduced and can bring change.
Mr Noor is famous in ODM Party and was a special friend to NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga. He praised Raila saying he has what it takes to lead this country and vowed to campaign for him. "I want to state I am strongly campaigning for Raila and he will get votes in Wajir promising to remain solidly behind ODM Party.
He has expressed reservation over the heightened political temperatures as campaigns reach home stretch 18 days to the August 8, General Elections. He stresses the need for a peaceful election calling on all leaders to shun hate speech during their campaigns. He finally pleaded with the Township ward electorate to vote him with a pledge to serve them effectively.
