Machackos Senator Johnson Nduya Muthama has made a u-turn and said he was supporting Wiper Leader and NASA running mate Kalonzo Musyoka. He at the same time dismissed the claims that he had defected from Wiper party.
Mr Muthama said that he is in Wiper party regardless of the wrangles that have been witnessed in it as a result of the party primaries. Furthermore Mr Muthama said that he has invested a lot of funds in Wiper party to fund its operations.
Mr Muthama shocked many recently when he declared that he won’t defend his seat during the August 8 polls and said would instead campaign for NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga and not his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka.
But in a surprise turn of events, Muthama seems to have softened his hard stance on Wiper and said he was supporting Kalonzo and the Machakos Wiper gubernatorial candidate, Wavinya Ndeti whose nomination annoyed him after his preferred candidate Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala was ‘removed unfairly’.
Defending his position that he funds Wiper, he said “I even financed Charity Ngilu in 1997 to the seek presidency yet I knew she could not make it but my intention was to show other tribes that Kambas can make their own decisions”.
He said he will not be seeking any political post but he will be campaigning for Nasa Coalition all over the Country and make sure Raila and Kalonzo are elected in the upcoming elections. Muthama made it clear that he has taken a break from being involved in Wiper politics but he remains a loyal member. He said there is no way he can support NASA Presidential candidate and fail to support Kalonzo.
Muthama accused incumbent Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua of allegedly looting public funds and said that its better Ms Ndeti than him. Initially Ms Ndeti claimed that anything that might happen to her Muthama and Dr Mutua should be held responsible.
Speaking on one of Kamba local radio stations Muthama said he will remain an enemy of Jubilee forever and his former wife Agnes Kavindu who is vying for women representative position in Machakos County using the Jubilee ticket. He told her to stop claiming to be his wife because they divorced many years ago.
Muthama said even if she wins during the elections, she cannot be a threat to him because he was not actively involved in Machakos politics. The Senator added Jubilee tried to threaten him and even went overboard by over taxing his Mining Company in order to finish him financially but he stands firm regardless of any storm directed at him.
“By not seeking any political post, I am in a position to move around and ensure that NASA gets more votes than Jubilee”, said Mr Muthama.
