The Court of appeal has finally cleared former Public Works PS Dr Gideon Mulyungi to run on Wiper ticket for Mwingi Central constituency. This is the final blow to Former Law society of Kenya President Mr Erick Mutua who had moved to the highest court to petition the nomination of Dr Mulyungi termed it flawed.

Mr Mutua has been fighting since he first lost in nominations he claimed were rigged in favour of Dr Mulyungi. The party was forced to repeat primaries in Mwingi Central, but when Mr Mutua lost for the second time he petitioned the highest court.

The Wednesday ruling by the Court of Appeal clears the hurdles for Dr Mulyungi and throws Mr Mutua out of the August 8, general elections. The High Court ruling stated that there was no evidence of rigging and declared Dr Mulyungi as the Wiper candidate.

Dr Mulyungi who is a businessman in Mwingi Sub-County has used his resources to gain popularity among the voters. They refer to him as ‘Sonko’ because of huge amounts of money he offers during Harambees and other community development projects.
