Residents of Mbaruk in Gilgil constituency have called on security forces to intensify security patrols along the old Nakuru-Nairobi highway following increased cases of runaway murderers and armed robberies in the area.

According to area residents, this year alone, more than five incidents of murder have been reported in the area where in some instances mutilated bodies have been found stashed in sacks. Motorbike operators in the area said most of the victims lost their motorbikes to robbers who take advantage of the bushes along the road.

Early Wednesday morning, a body of an unidentified man was found in the area with injuries on the face, hands and the neck. The body of the deceased was discovered by passersby at around 7.00am. It’s suspected that the deceased was murdered at the scene since there was presence of blood.

Detectives from Gilgil police station arrived at the scene and took the body to Gilgil sub county mortuary where a postmortem is expected to be conducted. At least six to ten murder cases are reported in the area in a year.

Today's incident comes a day after another body was found along Nakuru-Nairobi highway near green steds estate in the same area.
