(L-R): North Mugirango MP Charles Geni, Governor Nyangarama, Mr Odinga and Dr Gesami at a past ODM meeting in Nyamira Town.

Leaders nominated by ODM for various positions in Nyamira County have planned two days of rallies on Monday and Tuesday to launch the presidential campaign of their party leader Raila Odinga.

The rallies that will test the popularity of Mr candidature in the region will be led by Governor John Nyagarama, who on Friday met all the party's aspirants and appealed for them to come together and overcome divisions of the primaries season.

Mr Nyangarama held a dinner for all ODM nominees including incumbent MPs Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba) and Charles Geni Makuti (North Mugirango) as well as parliamentary aspirants Julius Matwere (West Mugirango) and Dr Nyandoro Kambi (Borabu) and several MCA aspirants. The meeting was also attended by officials representing Raila's national campaign secretariat.

During the dinner, which was also attended by Nyamira County ODM chairman Shadrack Kaka Richard, the nominees vowed to work together towards popularising the ODM party in Nyamira County and to overcome the differences of the nominations which has seen several ODM leaders from the region register as independent candidates after losing the nominations.

The two-day campaigns will include road shows covering all the major market centres in all the four constituencies of Nyamira County. During the campaigns, Mr Nyangarama will also host supporters to a homecoming party to thank them over his voctory against West Mugirango MP Dr James Gesami, who will run as independent.

According to the chairman of the aspirants' lobby Nyambega Gisesa, who is the MCA nominee for Rigoma Ward, the leaders will make a major statement about Nyamira County's political direction during the rallies.
