Kangundo parliamentary hopeful Rose Wambua has dismissed claims that the governing Jubilee Party had no chance of capturing any seat in the Ukambani region in the forthcoming August general elections.

Ms Wambua, who was speaking at a burial ceremony in Kangundo, said Jubilee is the party to beat since it is the party in government, arguing that it will claim many seats in the region. "I want to state here that Jubilee will clinch many seats here because of the developments it has done," she said.

The aspirant who is the Jubilee candidate took a shot at Wiper Party for issuing a direct nomination to the sitting MP Katatha Maweu, saying that she had been warned by her supporters against joining the party.

"You have seen what Wiper party has done by issuing a direct ticket. I am happy I din't fall into their trap," she stated, urging voters to elect leaders on their individual basis rather than along party lines.

Ms Wambua said that if elected she will work with the two levels of government well for the benefit of her constituents.
