An aspirant for the Machakos County women representative position has hailed unity by the region's leaders, saying it will spur quick development in the region. Ms Jane Cosmos Ndeti praised the recent unity pacts entered into by Ukambani leaders, saying that it will open up development across the region by undercuting suspicion and enmities between leaders.

Ms Ndeti, who is vying for the post on Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) ticket, was addressing residents of Matungulu on Thursday where she said that the coming together of different leaders in Ukambani signifies a lot, considering that for a long time the leaders have not been reading from the same script.

Ms Ndeti said that once elected, she will form a savings society for women in Machakos to help them save and access loans. "Once elected I will ensure that I have introduced a Sacco for the women to help them save and also access loans to boost their projects because women are the mostly the caretakers in families".

She added that she will push for a rehabilitation center to be built within Machakos to help rehabilitate youths who struggle with drugs whereby she said majority of drug addicts are youths who are idle. She further reached out to the youths not allow themselves to be used as tools of violence by politicians.
