A number of senior ODM leaders from Kilifi County led by deputy governor Kennedy Kamto announced their defection to the ruling Jubilee Party today, claiming their former party lacked internal democracy and that Governor Amason Kingi was a 'dictator'.

Among those defecting with Mr Kamto were aspiring sanator Ken Nyale, a well-known ODM activist who has contested a parliamentary race before, ODM National Executive Committee member Grace Mboja and a number of MCAs.

The defectors were received by former party members including Kwale governor Salim Mvurya, and MPs Gideon Mungaro and Mustafa Iddi, representing Kilifi North and Kilifi South constituencies respectively, at the Dr Krapf Centre in Rabai, Kilifi.
