Mr Mutua.

The contest for the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat has exposed the family fields in the home of former Permanent Secretary Dr Gideon Muliungi, whose younger brother has now throwed his weight behind former LSK President Eric Mutua. Mr Simon Muliungi is supporting his brother's opponent despite the fact that the brother enjoys former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s and the Wiper Party's establishment.

The younger Muliungi addressed a public rally at Ikusya Shopping Center near his family’s homestead and declared support for Mr Mutua. A video footage from the event has gone viral on social media. In the video, the younger Muliungi, who is speaking in the Kamba language, says he had decided to support his brother’s opponent because his brother lacked leadership qualities.

“When I say Eric Tosha aware that my brother is fighting for the same seat then there is a reason. As we elect leaders let's be careful”, he told the rally. Dr Muliungi and Mr Mutua are the front-runners for the seat after the incumbent Joe Mutambu decamped from Wiper to Jubilee Party. Wiper Party is the most popular and whoever wins the party’s nomination is almost certainly assured of victory during the August 8, polls.
