Kenya, Egypt qualify for FIVB U-23 Women World Championships

Egypt beat Botswana 3-1 in the five-nation roundrobin event to clinch gold, they also beat Kenya 3-1. Kenya beat Rwanda 3-1 to take the silver medal. The pair join 7 other teams previously that qualified for the championships set for August 27-September 3.

The Kenyan and Egyptian U-23 women’s teams will carry the African flags to the 2017 FIVB Under 23 World Championships in Slovenia in September. The two qualified for the event after finishing second and first respectively  in the CAVB Women's Under-23 Championships at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani, Nairobi.

Egypt beat Botswana 3-1 in the five-nation roundrobin event to clinch gold, they also beat Kenya 3-1. Kenya beat Rwanda 3-1 to take the silver medal. The pair join 7 other teams previously that qualified for the championships set for August 27-September 3.

The other teams that have qualified fir the world event are hosts Slovenia; Turkey and Italy (Europe). Argentina, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba (Pan-American region). The Asian representatives are to be known after the continental qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Amaco Insurance Monday have sponsored the 11th edition of the Amaco International Tournament to the tune of Sh6.6 million. The annual event, set for the Eldoret Polytechnic this weekend has attracted 56 teams from - Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.

The winner will take home Sh100,000, runners up Sh75,000, while the third placed team in the club event featuring both men and women's teams will pocket Sh50,000.
