It is double blessings for Victor Wanyama after he landed an ambassadorial role with African pay TV firm DStv and Multichoice. This comes days after he penned a five-year deal with Tottenham Hotspurs in the English Premier League after moving from Southampton.
The midfielder, who was unveiled as the ‘Let’s play’ ambassador during his birthday party organized by DStv and Multichoice Kenya, expressed his hope in kids who he said can be great if properly mentored.
“I wonder if I got the chance to have this platform when I was young where I would be. It’s always important to have the kids on board so that they could nurture their talents so that they too can have the opportunities we have now. I believe that kids can be great players in the future.,”said Wanyama.
Also present at the event was General Manager SuperSport, East Africa and the FKF President Nick Mwendwa.
Mwendwa extolled Wanyama’s role in the national team as the captain and also serving as a role model to most youths who have ambitions in playing football.
The writer is a student at University of Kabianga currently on internship at the Kenya Free Press.
