Goma Lotto, a local gaming company today presented Sh190,002 to Gor Mahia FC for winning their first two Kenyan Premier League matches this season. This is the second time the betting firm is rewarding the playing unit for winning matches since the beginning of the season.
Presenting the cheque to the players during a training session at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds, Jericho, Nairobi Goma Lotto Director Marketing and Communication Agnes Owade, said the token of appreciation, meant to motivate the players, was a sign of bigger things to come. "Goma Lotto has financial friends, you play and win, we reward you for winning"', she told the players.
The betting firm partnered with Gor Mahia in January, in a deal geared towards raising funds for the development of the club, while creating opportunities for youth football development. The firm also plans to construct a stadium for the club to be used to host Gor Mahia's home matches. Funds generated will also be used on the club's infrastructure, players and officials kitty and medical insurance scheme.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia, leading the standings with six points, face Western Stima at Moi Stadium, Kisumu on Sunday (2pm), AFC Leopards host Nzoia Sugar at Kenyatta Stadium Machakos on Saturday (2pm). Mathare United meet Sofapaka at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani, Saturday (1pm).
KPL defending champions Tusker entertain Chemilil Sugar at Kinoru Stadium, Meru on Saturday (2pm). Zoo Kericho tackle Nakumatt at Green Stadium Kericho on Sunday (2pm) as Sony Sugar host Thika United at Awendo Green Stadium (2pm).
On Saturday Kakamega Homeboyz host Posta Rangers at Kakamega's Bukhungu Stadium (2pm), Bandari face Muhoroni Youth at Mombasa's Mbaraki Sports Club (1pm), Kariobangi Sharks entertain Ulinzi Stars at the Nairobi City Stadium (1pm).
