Former Gor Mahia coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno's return to the club as assistant coach is part of the teams skills transfer programme, chairman Ambrose Rachier has said.

Zico, a former international defender, who also turned out for Gor in his younger days, is back at the Gor bench, where apart from assisting head coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira, he is upgrading his skills under the coach.

At the Gor Mahia technical bench headed by the Brazilian coach, popularly known as Ze Maria, there are non-Kenyans who may not speak the local languages and are therefore unable to gel that well with players, that's one of the reasons we hired Zico, who can even speak sheng with the players, said Rachier.

Zico can also help ease communication between the players and coach Ze Maria whose mother tongue is Portuguese, as much as he speaks English. But most important is the transfer of skills, which sees foreign coaches hired by Gor transfer their skills to the local tacticians-a system the club uses to develop skills of local technical personnel.
