Chinese trade group to establish golf club in Kenya

The golf project aims at strengthening the friendship and trade between Kenya and the Peoples Republic of China. It is part of the association's bid to enhance the economy of Kenya and East Africa in general.

The China Africa Economy Trade Investment Promotion Association and and the Soin International Golf Club plans to establish a top-class golf club in the country, a top official said Wednesday. Tai Shujun, Secretary General of the China Africa Economy Trade Investment Promotion Association, said the group had set aside Sh300 million to kick-start the project.

The golf project aims at strengthening the friendship and trade between Kenya and the Peoples Republic of China. It is part of the association's bid to enhance the economy of Kenya and East Africa in general.

She was speaking at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club at the end of the inaugural Sion International Golf Club tournament which brought together 20 Chinese golfers residing in Nairobi. She said the golf club will be an ideal place for Chinese tourists and investors to interact with Kenyans, with a view to deepening trade between the two countries.

She did not dwell much on the venue of the proposed golf club, size and total cost,Tai appeared to reserve the details for another day. After Nairobi, the Sion International Golf Club tournament will be staged in Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. Other organizations falling under the aegis of the China Africa Economy Trade Investment Association are- Sion Africa Investment Centr and Xiehe Group Kenya Limited.
