ODM, the senior partner in NASA, is grappling with confusion over its nominee for the Nairobi senate seat. The party had issued an automatic ticket to a nondescript aspirant called Chapia Chapia and only over the weekend tried to withdraw Chapia’s nomination in favour of lawyer Edwin Sifuna.
The rallies that will test the popularity of Mr candidature in the region will be led by Governor John Nyagarama, who on Friday met all the party's aspirants and appealed for them to come together and overcome divisions of the primaries season.
With Mr Kimutai determined to assume office despite the court order, Mr Mackenzie took what the workers viewed as a bold step by ordering them on a go-slow. She had on Friday stormed the office where Mr Kimutai was meeting some senior staff and loudly asked the incoming CEO to obey court orders.

Mr Musila could be advantaged if he were to consolidate the three constituencies in Mwingi sub county; Mwingi North, Mwingi West and Mwingi Central. Since Dr Malombe and Ngilu come from Kitui Central, other constituencies (Kitui West, Kitui Rural, Mutito and Kitui South) would up for grabs.

Unlike Abdullahi who is campaigning on his development record, the Jubilee party candidate is using the clan politics. He believes that he would get all the votes in Wajir East and Tarbaj constituencies inhabited by the Fai family of Degodia and regions where former ODM leaders now support him.
Mr Mwaita managed only 5,448 votes against David Kipkerich's 17,800. The MP had no choice but congratulate his opponent as the results were being announced. Ms Sambili, a former minister, received only 6,015 votes compared to Dr Daniel Tutoek's 11,994, forcing her into retirement from politics.
Like in 2007, all incumbents have lost except for Kanini Kega of Kieni. Gachagua Rigathi, brother to recently-departed Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua, beat the current member of parliament Peter Weru while political activist Wambugu Ngunijiri beat the incumbent Esther Murugi in Nyeri Town.

While the two politicians are expected to present to Nairobians a catalogue of promises on transforming the city, they should focus on some of the basic problems the city residents face, most of which have grown worse under Dr Kidero.
Mr Musyoka has in recent past held meetings with leaders of small political parties from Ukambani which resulted in his signing MoUs with them. First was Makueni governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana who signed an MoU with Wiper, through which he would seek reelection.

A number of ward representative aspirants from Embakasi, Ruaraka and Westlands are reported to have complained to the party about CEB members who were "hawking" nomination certificates to the highest bidders. Some of the complainers parted with money, according to a source at Orange House.

The common denominator in these conflicts is that they were not characterised by ethnic or government/opposition divergences but localised gangs enforcing the political will of their bosses in political contests. And the bloodshed arose often from conflicts over the governorship position.

Judge Omondi adjourned the hearing till next week Wednesday 29 March after the county government’s advocate Samuel Nyauke requested for more time to study the petition. Mr Nyauke argued that he had not had sufficient time to study the petition and needed more time to file a reply.

The former legislator who has also shown his interest in the seat he once occupied was speaking at different church occasions in Mwala constituency yesterday where he also asked the other aspirants all over Ukambani to call for unity.
Mr Musyoka claimed "some people are paid to give the opinion wanted by the financiers. Pollsters, and I am mentioning Ipsos and Infotrak, stop misleading Kenyans. Kenyans are tired of being led by your cooked figures."
With the news about the committee's split spilling into the open, the tensions between Mr Odinga and his partners Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi are likely to escalate ahead of the committee's submission of its report NASA coordinating committee.
Mr Mututho also accuses Mr Mbugua of using millions of shillings to buy out his top campaigners and supporters, but remains optimistic that he would still cruise to victory in the Jubilee Party nominations.
