A stock owner identified as Noor Salan said that they were grazing the camels when a group of around 100 officers arrived in police vehicles, rounded the camels up and sprayed them with bullets. He said the officers targeted only the camels and no human being was hurt in the operation.

Others in the race are Maendeleo ya Wanawake Machakos County chairlady Ms Francisca Mutinda, who is running on Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) and the wife of former marathoner Jane Cosmas Ndeti who is flying Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) ticket.
Mr Murungi is well known for undercutting upcoming politicians in Meru. In the just-concluded party primaries, he misled Kawira Mwangaza, to join the Jubilee Party on the promise of direct ticket, only to subject her to a totally flawed nomination process in favour of the senator’s loyalist Kajuju.
According to his mother Mary Njeri Karuga, the son joined the university in September 2016 and studied for only one semester but failed to report for the second semester despite being given full school fees which he failed to pay. Efforts by the parents to trace their son have turned futile.

Muthama may join forces with Musila and other forces against the Wiper party leader in Ukambani. However, with Muthama reputed to be close to the Odinga wing in NASA, it remains to be seen how such dynamic will impact the harmonious working relationship that the NASA people to win August elections.
ODM, the senior partner in NASA, is grappling with confusion over its nominee for the Nairobi senate seat. The party had issued an automatic ticket to a nondescript aspirant called Chapia Chapia and only over the weekend tried to withdraw Chapia’s nomination in favour of lawyer Edwin Sifuna.
The rallies that will test the popularity of Mr candidature in the region will be led by Governor John Nyagarama, who on Friday met all the party's aspirants and appealed for them to come together and overcome divisions of the primaries season.
With Mr Kimutai determined to assume office despite the court order, Mr Mackenzie took what the workers viewed as a bold step by ordering them on a go-slow. She had on Friday stormed the office where Mr Kimutai was meeting some senior staff and loudly asked the incoming CEO to obey court orders.

Mr Musila could be advantaged if he were to consolidate the three constituencies in Mwingi sub county; Mwingi North, Mwingi West and Mwingi Central. Since Dr Malombe and Ngilu come from Kitui Central, other constituencies (Kitui West, Kitui Rural, Mutito and Kitui South) would up for grabs.

Despite such remarkable progress, the primaries were marked by violence in over ten counties. A number of reported disputes were not well resolved, resulting in an unprecedented number of aspirants defecting from their parties to run as independent candidates.
Four of the five were connected in one way or the other to the coup attempt. NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga was a suspected coup plotter who was detained for the suspected crime. In 2006, 24 years after the events, Mr Odinga publicly confessed his role in the failed coup.

Unlike Abdullahi who is campaigning on his development record, the Jubilee party candidate is using the clan politics. He believes that he would get all the votes in Wajir East and Tarbaj constituencies inhabited by the Fai family of Degodia and regions where former ODM leaders now support him.
Mr Mwaita managed only 5,448 votes against David Kipkerich's 17,800. The MP had no choice but congratulate his opponent as the results were being announced. Ms Sambili, a former minister, received only 6,015 votes compared to Dr Daniel Tutoek's 11,994, forcing her into retirement from politics.
Like in 2007, all incumbents have lost except for Kanini Kega of Kieni. Gachagua Rigathi, brother to recently-departed Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua, beat the current member of parliament Peter Weru while political activist Wambugu Ngunijiri beat the incumbent Esther Murugi in Nyeri Town.

While the two politicians are expected to present to Nairobians a catalogue of promises on transforming the city, they should focus on some of the basic problems the city residents face, most of which have grown worse under Dr Kidero.
Mr Musyoka has in recent past held meetings with leaders of small political parties from Ukambani which resulted in his signing MoUs with them. First was Makueni governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana who signed an MoU with Wiper, through which he would seek reelection.
Mr Kithae also announced that the society’s share capital had grown from Sh6,857,958 in 2013 to Sh13,201,765 in 2016. “The members are encouraged to save more even when they have been given loans. Our capacity to give out more loans depends on the size of the members deposits”.
"It would be a very difficult task to convince the Kamba nation to be the second fiddle in 2017," he said at a press conference where he was accompanied by Kitui Senator David Musila and MPs Bernard Munywoki Kitungi (Mwingi West), and Marcus Mutua Muluvi (kitui East).
Ms Ndeti strongly supported Mr Musyoka's decision to join the NASA presidential line-up as Raila Odinga's running mate. She said Mr Musyoka had no chance getting a similar position on the Jubilee side and those calling for him to move to Jubilee are out of vision.
“I have been meeting Mr Musila and urged him to reconsider his decision of leaving Wiper. This trend of losing party leaders needs to be addressed. It all began when Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka and his Mwala counterpart Vincent Musyoki, then other five MPs left. This should stop”, he said.
Lee trounced Mbugua in all the eleven sub counties of Nakuru county in a tightly contest party primary filled with tension after the announcement of results was delayed for almost two days.
Instead of campaigning in Jubilee, he spent his energies on attacking Governor Kidero by highlighting how Nairobi had collapsed due to the bad leadership and unfulfilled promises. It was a general election pose that assumed he already had the Jubilee ticket in his pocket.
We reported the news at a time the mainstream media believed that Mr Odinga was out of contention for the position, speculating that Mr Kalonzo would run with his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi with either of the two as the presidential contender.

The two, John Musila (the Returning Officer at the Kikambuani Primary School) and Veronica Mutiso (a clerk) were found with ballot papers marked for the sitting MCA Francis Matheka.
A number of ward representative aspirants from Embakasi, Ruaraka and Westlands are reported to have complained to the party about CEB members who were "hawking" nomination certificates to the highest bidders. Some of the complainers parted with money, according to a source at Orange House.
Mr Omoding said the parties failed to issue the security committee with their nomination programs even after they requested for them. “We told the Wiper Party elections board to give us their program for primaries but they did not do so, we are yet to get that of Maendeleo Chap Chap of well”.
The common denominator in these conflicts is that they were not characterised by ethnic or government/opposition divergences but localised gangs enforcing the political will of their bosses in political contests. And the bloodshed arose often from conflicts over the governorship position.
What Mr Kiala hinted in the statement has come to pass as the two never joined him at the meeting and the Party Deputy Leader Maalim was candid to him that the certificate was already issued. Mr Kiala condemned the party for "not living up to democratic principles".
In Migori, Okoth Obado and Ochilo Ayako were both declared winners. Mr Obado was declared the winner and issued with an interim nomination certificate by the Migori County returning officer while Mr Ayako was later declared winner by County Elections Board chairman.

In the rush to show action was being taken on the rancher's killing, Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel was arrested and detained, but Nanyuki principal magistrate Waititu Gichimu later released him after the prosecution failed to give compelling reasons to continue detaining him in police custody.
"We are reading mischief from the Chief Officer and Kangundo and Matungulu subcounty administrators for issuing a letter to EBTI Sacco allocating them space at the Kangundo Bus terminal, which is against the Machakos agreement," said Mr Muthiani.

Mr Joho hit out at the Jubilee administration and President Uhuru Kenyatta as a person, urging the president to use the energy that the head of state had directed towards him in fighting corruption and making the lives of Kenyans bearable, citing rising inflation.

Jubilee leaders in Meru Country have expressed fears that opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) was making inroads in the area warning that unless President Kenyatta intervenes the party might face rebellion on the face of the opposition.
"I want to tell my friend Kalonzo Musyoka that he is being duped in NASA, they will not give him the presidential ticket, he should vie alone or consider joining Jubilee Party and President Uhuru will give him a position," said Mr Mutambu.
"It is a painful thing to see money meant for development being misused and getting lost while there are students who learn under trees. I think it is time for the EACC to step and act because it is their duty," said Mr Muli.

Judge Omondi adjourned the hearing till next week Wednesday 29 March after the county government’s advocate Samuel Nyauke requested for more time to study the petition. Mr Nyauke argued that he had not had sufficient time to study the petition and needed more time to file a reply.
There was confusion as to whether the Kamau group would proceed to name the names in the absence of the Wa Iria camp, but the matter was resolved when Ms Leah Ntimama, the Jubilee national official who was overseeing the exercise, announced that it had been postponed to next Tuesday.

Following the difference, Mr Sonkos supporters stormed out in protest, with the senator accusing Starehe MP Maina Kamanda of trying to rig the selecting of the board members. Mr Kamanda is the team leader of Kenneth’s campaign in Nairobi.
As soon as Joho’s chopper arrived, police threw teargas at the place of landing inviting the wrath of members of public who chanted Mvurya must go. The rally consequently aborted.
Many political pundits wondered how appointment of the Chief Justice could be used in a campaign platform while it’s a constitutional office and the holder is by merit and not politically inclined to any political divide.
The IEBC has deliberately not managed the ICT issues prudently thus raising questions on the integrity of the procurement process. It is only in February that NASA alerted the country to suspect IEBC infractions in chaotic voter listing and procuring the electronic equipment.
The aspirants meeting comes in the heels of Kalonzo’s presentation of his presidential nomination papers to the party's national elections board. He said at the time, this is the first step towards clinching the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential ticket.
