A high end shopping mall is under construction in Sagana Town off the Nairobi-Nyeri highway. The Sagana Mall, as it will be known, will completely change the skyline of the town, which for decades held the title of Kenya’s “cleanest little town.”
Sagana has been a favoured town in Kenya since colonial days, when settlers developed it into a sort of resort getaway midway between Nairobi, Nyeri and other Mt Kenya towns. After independence, it benefited from further development through the location of a state lodge (a mini State House) which brought presidents and other dignitaries to the area once in a while.

The property is being developed by a group of investors from Central, under the lead financial and project management of Advent Valuers, whose director James Wagema Ruitha has over 30 years in valuation, management, and project financing and management.
The mall is a modern edifice that will completely change the Sagana skyline, bringing in a modernistic design to suit the convenience of today's client and customer. There will be two levels of premier shopping experience including a 16,000 sq. ft Supermarket, complementary and carefully selected retail outlets, club house, cafe, institutional premises and offices.
There will also be a 30 room motel with a restaurant and conference facilities. The club house will have decks facing onto the adjacent highway and the road junction with beautifully manicured lawns, flower garden and children play area giving a homely relaxing ambiance.
The design is set to create commercial synergy in the context of its environment, with the goal to excite and energize the spirit of local shopper and complement its surroundings. Security has also been built into the mall therefore secure and efficient pedestrian and vehicular access will be guaranteed.
Some of the mall's superior features include high speed lifts, excellent and ample parking, power backup generator, common washroom facilities on each level, ecofriendly natural ventilation including a bio-digester, and kids play area.
On the ground floor will be a cafeteria, phone shop, shoe shop, fast food restaurant, wine shop, pharmacy, agrovet, curio yards, electronic store and butcher among others. From the first to third floors will be offices, food courts, bank halls, conference facilities and shops, while the fourth floor will have a guest house with 30 rooms.
The Sagana Mall will provide shoppers with an unmatched ambience for a rural town. The only such malls available in Kenya at the moment are to be found only in the five major cities - Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret.
Therefore, with the mall, Sagana will not only maintain its reputation as "Kenya's best little town", it will surpass it as set the standard for a new kind of property development in rural towns.
