The carcass of the leopard is displayed for villagers to see.

A brave son battled a leopard to rescue his father after the cat attacked the old man in a village in Murang’a County. Even though Esbon Mwangi rescued his father from the jaws of the leopard, he and several villagers are nursing wounds after the encounter.

The incident happened in Ngaa-ini village in Maragua when Esbon’s father Ephantus Mburu, was attacked by the cat. In a bid to save his life, he climbed up a tree but the animal followed him up there and brought him to the ground, determined to maul him.

Four other villagers were also attacked by the cat, which the villagers said had its hideout in Maragua Ridge, and with Esbon they are now recuperating at Maragua District Hospital.

The animal was later killed by the villagers, who are now demanding compensation from Kenya Wildlife Services for their injured kin.
