Former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga attended the event, as did cabinet secretaries Eugene Wamalwa and Dan Kazungu. Najib Balala, the cabinet secretary for tourism, was conspicuously absent.
Other dignitaries at the event were the host governor, Moses Akaranga, and his counterparts Jack Ranguma (Kisumu) and Isaac Ruto (Bomet).
