Embu governor aspirant making waves against Wambora, Kivuti

“Every part of this country has a county government and the best way to do business is give opportunity to local businesses except where there is no local capacity for the tenders in question,” he says.

Management consultant Kithinji Kiragu who is aspiring for the Embu governorship position has erected huge campaign banners in the county to market himself. The banners, which carry Mr Kiragu’s portrait and the Jubilee Party logo, call on the Embu people to support the aspirant and elect other Jubilee leaders as well. The banners have been seen as an answer by the aspirant to critics who have spreading rumours that he had quit the race or planned to defect from the Jubilee Party.

In November, there emerged reports attributed to Mr Kiragu’s opponents that he had abandoned the governorship race and was instead running to become the Embu senator in 2017. The aspirant has however vowed to run for the governor’s seat and to stay in Jubilee where he wants to take his campaign all the way to the nomination stage.

The aspirant has also spoken candidly against corruption in recent weeks. He urges the current Embu government administration to absorb all development funds allocated to the county by the national government without returning any to the National Treasury.

He has also urged the Governor Martin Wambora-led administration to give tenders for the supply of goods and services to residents of Embu County before considering outsiders.

“Every part of this country has a county government and the best way to do business is give opportunity to local businesses except where there is no local capacity for the tenders in question,” he says.
