The new Habaswein MCA Hussein Abdirahman Dahir.

The election of Hussein Abdirahman Dahir, the new MCA for Habaswein Ward in the Wajir County Assembly, has brought hope to the people in that region who for years were crying for better representation. The MCA was elected on the PDR ticket for the seat that lies in Wajir South constituency.

The new member has taken to his duties with gusto, organising the people into groups that he plans to rely on for coordinating development in the ward, which is one of the largest and most impoverished in the whole of Wajir County. He promises to improve on the capacity of the MCA to contribute more effectively to the oversight authority to county government executives.

Among the MCA's main campaign promises was to effectively represent the people of Habaswein ward and contribute to their life transforming programs in the county assembly through enactment of good legislation, maintaining close contact with the electorate and consulting them on issues before or under discussion in the county assembly.

With a month of sittings, the MCA has already emerged as a very active participant in assembly matters. He is is bold and speaks his mind on matters before the house. He told this writer that his tenure will be marked with rapid improvement in the delivery of service to people in their communities and their effective representation in the assembly.

He seeks to unite people regardless of their clan, colour and religious. He wants to deliver to his people by developing the ward, with a focus on water services, agriculture and education. As his main electors were the youth, he promises to lobby for pro-youth policy-making. He wants to start a revolving fund with no interest at all for youth and women.

The MCA in a contemplative mood.

The MCA believes that his sound educational background, skills and experiences in both humanitarian world and other private sector jobs have equipped him the resources he needs to represent the people effectively and lead programmes for their economic advancement.

He holds a Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Management from Mt Kenya University. Before that, he had obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance and Accounting Option from Kenya Methodist University.

On the upcoming election, he will support the re-election of President Kenyatta, whom he says has proven his concern for the North Eastern region by ensuring the appointment of Garissa Township Aden Duale as majority leader in the national assembly, among other top appointments to people from the region.
