Dubai Tourism conducts multi-city road show across East Africa

The series of events are to showcase Dubai’s expanding proposition of affordable luxury experiences to key travel partners in the East African region, spanning across travel, accommodation, entertainment and events in the city, and placing a focus on family travel.

Following a successful first edition last year, Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), has today concluded the second edition of a stakeholder roadshow organised in Nairobi. The roadshow was part of a series of road shows across key cities in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania. The event aims to further strengthen relationships with key industry stakeholders in the region.

The series of events are to showcase Dubai’s expanding proposition of affordable luxury experiences to key travel partners in the East African region, spanning across travel, accommodation, entertainment and events in the city, and placing a focus on family travel.

Speaking at the road show, Stella Obinwa, Regional Director Africa for Dubai Tourism, said: “After a successful road show last year, we are delighted to return to Nairobi. Africa continues to play a big role in our diversified market strategy, as we look to further tap into its immense potential. These road shows are instrumental for us to meet local travel partners and enlighten them on all that Dubai has to offer, and what the city has in store for its visitors.”

Dubai Tourism was joined by select partners including Dubai Healthcare Authority, Dubai College of Tourism, Dubai Immigration, Emirates Airline, Flydubai, Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Global Village, Rayna Tours, North Tours, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Thumbay Hospital and Kerzner International.

The road show follows a strong start to 2017 for Dubai Tourism, which saw over 4.57 million travellers visit the city in the first three months of the year, marking an increase of 11 per cent when compared to last year. Dubai Tourism also hopes to capitalise on a string of highly anticipated openings and launches in the city throughout 2016, which include family-friendly destinations like Dubai Parks and Resorts and IMG Worlds of Adventure. Dubai also saw the magnificent Dubai Opera open its doors last year to a host of acclaimed performances and concerts, as well as the expansive Dubai Canal adding to Dubai’s impressive skyline.

The city also recently celebrated the 22nd edition of the popular Dubai Shopping Festival and the fourth edition of the Dubai Food Festival that provided visitors and residents with a variety of delectable culinary experiences across Dubai. Still to come this year are Dubai Summer Surprises that is set to take place this, in addition to a big Summer Clearance Sale and a jam-packed calendar of events in the lead up to 2018.

“From families to young couples, millennials to business travellers, everyone has plenty of reasons to visit Dubai – whether it is experiencing family-friendly activities, an extensive retail selection, or a year-round calendar of events. Through this road show, we hope to provide our partners in region with a glimpse of Dubai’s offerings, as well as build and maintain trade relationships, all towards further developing visitation from the East African market to Dubai,” Stella added.
