Thirty-three year-old Franklin Korir from Kericho County is the grand prize winner of a brand new BMW X1 in the just concluded “Red Dot” targeted consumer promotion, featuring EABL product brands. Elated by the good news, Mr Korir said that he had never dreamt of ever owning such a state-of-the-art luxurious vehicle, valued at Kshs 4.3 million.
“I was on my way home after work, when I purchased Smirnoff Vodka at the Uchumi Supermarket. Luckily, I had seen the campaign’s billboard, and so I scratched the Red Dot sticker and sent the code as per the instructions on the sticker,” said Mr Korir.
He added that after sending the code, he did not give much thought to his entry, until last week when he was called by the Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) team informing him that he is was the winner of the grand prize.
“At first, I thought the caller was playing a joke on me and so I dismissed the call. The caller, was however, persistent calling me on subsequent days relaying the same news. After consulting with close confidants, I decided to go to EABL to establish if the calls were credible. It is when I arrived at the EABL Headquarters that I confirmed that I was the winner,” said Mr Korir.
Speaking during the BMW X1 handover ceremony, KBL sales director Andrew Kilonzo said this was the second edition of the “Red Dot” consumer promotion in which the company appreciates customers who buy their favourite alcoholic beverages from select retail stores. He noted that the company is committed to providing quality alcoholic beverages and reward loyal consumers.
“This year’s campaign has been bigger and better with over 11,000 customers winning exciting prizes such as shopping vouchers worth Kshs 500, a smart TV and top-of-the-range home theater systems on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. I would like to appreciate our partners who made this consumer promotion a success,” said Mr Kilonzo.
Nakumatt, Chandarana, Ukwala, Uchumi, GAME, Quickmatt, Carrefour, all Innscor convenience stores located in petrol stations as well as Karen Provision Stores, participated in the three-month promotion.
This year over 290,000 people participated in the Red Dot Targeted Consumer Promotion, compared to 78,000 in the first edition of the promotion in 2015, affirming the brand’s crucial role to engage its customers.
